Forest School Adventures at Thomas Bullock

At Thomas Bullock CE Primary and Nursery Academy, part of the Nightingale Federation, we believe in the power of outdoor learning. We are incredibly fortunate to offer our children regular Forest School sessions in our expansive and inspiring outdoor area.

Our specialist Level 3 qualified Forest School practitioner, who is also a qualified primary school teacher with QTS, leads weekly sessions. This unique expertise ensures seamless integration of Forest School principles with our curriculum, inspiring children through positive outdoor experiences.

Exploring Our Natural Classroom and Curriculum Integration

Our spacious outdoor area, featuring a pond, woodlands, a swing, and a fire pit, provides diverse learning environments. Forest School sessions are interwoven with our curriculum, enriching subjects such as:

  • Science, Geography, and Humanities: Exploring habitats, ecosystems, and human interactions with the environment.
  • PSHE: Developing teamwork, communication, and resilience.
  • Thematic Topics: Supporting and enhancing classroom learning.

What is Forest School?

Forest School fosters personal, social, and emotional development through hands-on activities in nature. Children:

  • Develop confidence and self-esteem through challenges.
  • Encourage play and exploration.
  • Deepen environmental awareness.

Our Forest School sessions provide a unique experience, allowing children to connect with nature, build essential skills, and reinforce classroom learning. We believe these experiences are invaluable in nurturing well-rounded, confident learners.
