PSHE / RSE
Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education
At The Nightingale Federation, we go beyond simply teaching life skills; we empower our children to navigate the complexities of the modern world and flourish in every aspect of their lives. PSHE is fundamental to our commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals, providing a broad and balanced curriculum that enables every child to 'Let Their Light Shine'. Through this dynamic programme, encompassing Relationships and Sex Education, Health Education, and Living in the Wider World, we equip pupils with the essential knowledge, skills, and attributes they need to thrive, both now and in the future. Recognising that wellbeing is paramount, we have embedded a strong ethos of support throughout our school. From Forest School to worry boxes, and a proactive approach to pastoral care with our dedicated school and communities team, we cultivate a nurturing environment where children are encouraged to communicate, seek support from trusted adults, and develop the emotional intelligence, resilience, and self-assurance to become healthy, open-minded, respectful, and engaged members of society.
Relationships and Sex Education
Dear Parents and Carers,
You are the first and most important educators of your children. You want your children to feel positive about themselves, to be safe and healthy and be prepared for long-term intimate relationships. You want to ensure that they are taught in the right way in matters relating to human growth and development.
We want to work in partnership with you to complement and reinforce the lessons you teach your child as they grow up. Every year, we communicate to you our Relationships & Sex Education (RSE) Curriculum, which is delivered through our PSHE and RSE lessons in the Summer Term.
Below you will find the Educator Solutions RSE curriculum that we follow in all classes, top tips for talking to your child and further parent documents as well.
